2011 Martha Beckenholdt Youth Philanthropy Award Applications are now available for the Martha Beckenholdt Youth Philanthropy Award. This award was established by the Hancock County Community Foundation in 1996 in honor of long-time Hancock County resident and philanthropist, Martha Beckenholdt. The award is given annually to a junior from one of the four Hancock County high schools who exhibits outstanding contributions of time, talent, and energy to philanthropic endeavors. The recipient of the award receives the opportunity to recommend a $500 grant, donated by the Foundation, to the nonprofit agency or organization of their choice, and HCCF will recognize the recipient at the Foundation's annual event in November. In order to apply, students must be a current Hancock County resident and must be a high school junior at one of Hancock County's four public high schools. Additionally, applicants must attain a nomination from their school or a qualifying local nonprofit organization. A link to the nomination form can be found to the right. Interested parties may obtain the application in their high school guidance office or by clicking on the link to the right. Applications must be delivered to the HCCF office by 4:00pm on Friday, September 16, 2011. Completed applications may be hand-delivered or mailed to the address on the application between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm. Applications postmarked by the due date but not yet received will not be accepted. All applicants who submit a completed application will be contacted to set up an interview with the selection committee with interviews tentatively scheduled between 4:00 and 6:00pm on Monday, October 3, 2011. Notification of the award will take place in late October. For more information, contact Alyse Vail, HCCF Program Officer, at 317-462-8870 |
